INTRODUCTION

Refrigeration Cycle Demonstration Unit i.e. Refrigeration Tutor is designed to carry out following experiments and study of refrigeration cycle in details for the students of Mechanical Engineering of Polytechnics. This equipmentisfully instrumented to demonstrate ‘Refrigeration System’ with basic components and necessary controls .

RANGE OF EXPERIMENTS

1.  To demonstrate the basic Vapour Compression Cycle of Refrigeration .
2. To study theoretical cycles and plotting of T- and P.H. charts .
3. To study the properties of refrigerant at salient point s of the cycle .
4. To find out refrigerating effect and work input , hence , actual and theoretical C.O.P.
5. To study functioning of vapour compression cycle at various evaporator temperatures .
6. To study thermal energy balance at evaporator , condenser and overall .
7. To study compressor efficiency at varying functioning condition

SPECIFICATIONS

1. Compressor :Hermetically sealed compressor having cooling capacity of 920 Kcal/Hr.
(1/3Ton) Emerson Make or equivalent Electrical rating : 230 V, 50Hz. CFC Free
2. Evaporator : Copper Coil immersed in insulated water tank ( shell ) of stainless steel
Water tank capacity of 14 litters . Electric heater immersion type is provided in
the Evaporator Tank for balancing ‘ Refrigerating Effect’ produced. Heater control
and digital voltmeter / ammeter to measure heat Input.
3. Condenser :Air cooled condenser with -copper fins . This is a tube type condenser .
FHP fan motor with fan blade is provided.
4. Expension Device : A) Capillary Tube : Diameter suitable

B) Thermostatic Expansion Valve : Danfoss/ Flica (Internal Equalizer Type)

AC 220V 50 HZ supply. Space required : 2mtr x 1.5 mtr Water supply for evaporator tank.
